What is radon and why is it dangerous?

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that comes from the breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water. It’s colorless and odorless, making it undetectable without testing. Prolonged exposure to elevated radon levels is the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking.

The only way to know your home’s radon level is through testing. The EPA recommends all homes be tested, regardless of location or construction type. We offer professional testing with continuous monitors that provide accurate, reliable results within 48 hours.

The EPA recommends taking action if radon levels are 4.0 pCi/L or higher. However, there’s no completely safe level of radon exposure. We aim to reduce levels below 2.0 pCi/L.

Most mitigation systems use Active Soil Depressurization. A pipe is installed through your foundation into the soil below, and a specialized fan creates negative pressure that draws radon gas from under your home and vents it safely above your roofline.

Most residential radon mitigation systems can be installed in just one day, typically 3-4 hours. More complex installations may take up to two days.

We take great care to minimize visual impact. Most of the system is hidden, with only a small section of pipe visible on the exterior. We can often route pipes through garages, closets, or less visible areas.
